The National Mathematical Olympiad of Singapore (NMOS) is a prestigious competition that aims to inspire and challenge primary school students who have a passion for mathematics. It is organized by the NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, in partnership with the Singapore Mathematical Society.
The NMOS consists of two rounds: the Preliminary Round and the Special Round. The Preliminary Round is a written test that is held at the respective primary schools of the registered participants. The top scorers of the Preliminary Round are invited to the Special Round, which is also a written test, but held at the NUS High School campus.
The NMOS covers topics that are beyond the primary school mathematics syllabus, such as number theory, geometry, combinatorics, and logic. The questions are designed to test the participants’ creativity, problem-solving skills, and mathematical intuition. The NMOS also exposes the participants to various branches of mathematics that they may not encounter in their regular curriculum.
The NMOS is open to all primary school students who have not enrolled in Primary Six level. The registration for NMOS 2023 will be from 30th March 2023 to 21st April 2023. The Preliminary Round will be held on 27th June 2023, and the Special Round will be held on 1st August 2023.
If you are interested in participating in the NMOS, you can find more information on the official website: https://www.nushigh.edu.sg/news-n-events/primary-school-competitions/national-mathematical-olympiad-of-singapore/introduction
The NMOS is a great opportunity for young mathematicians to showcase their talents, learn new concepts, and interact with like-minded peers. We hope to see you at the NMOS 2023!
